Look Ma! I've been interviewed by a trade publication

Free Software Magazine decided to publish a story on me after I provided the JavaScript for the Drupal Karma Module. You can read the story here. Full article text after the break.

Mugshot at LUG NYC Tonight

I'll be attending the Linux User Group meeting at Google NYC. Tonight's featured speakers will be from Mugshot. Should be pretty good.
What I'm listening to right now

The Greatest Living American

Who would doubt that Steven Colbert is the Greatest Living American?

Google 411

Appears that Google has started a new 411 service, available by dialing 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411). Coming from Google, it's entirely free, which is simply amazing considering most service providers charge at least a buck.

NSLU2 Update

More news on my NSLU2, I've gotten the following packages installed (apt-get is great):

  • Apache2
  • Samba
  • PHP 5.2
  • SQLite
  • Smarty

and I've started a blog about the experience, which is conveniently hosted on the NSLU2. Because I don't have a static IP address, I wrote a little script that automatically updates a forwarding page every two hours. You can access my SLUG here:

Cinco de Mayo in Binghamton

Salvatore and I will be in Binghamton from Friday, May 4th until Sunday, May 6th. We plan on attending a social gathering, or two and just having a hell of a good time. Additional people are more than welcome to join us, if they'd like, as we'll be riding in style.

We'll also be staying in some luxurious accommodations.

Hey, this thing does blogs too (NSLU2 Update)

Looks like Drupal has a specific module for Blogging, that's swell. Additionally, my NSLU2 is up and running, thanks to the newly patched version of the Debian installer. After installing all three (Unslung, OpenSlug and Debian) of the major distros for the slug, my vote goes for Debian, in both ease of use and available packages. Within just two hours (subtract the time spent figuring out why my disk wasn't being detected because I kept plugging in the printer cable), I have file sharing, print serving (still needs tested ) and apache running.

Lately, movies have been.... good.

I've recently started to utilize the video rental place around the corner, wedelivervideos.com. Anyway, turns out movies are a lot better than I remember them being, so here is my list of the best movies I've seen in the last couple of weeks:

  1. Volver
  2. The Children of Men
  3. The Last King of Scotland
  4. Jean de Florette
  5. Manon of the Spring
  6. The Prestige

Now the ones I didn't like so much:

Current Projects

I'm currently working on the following projects:

  1. Updating my resume (and putting one online).
  2. Building a "Web 2.0" application for my company seating chart, details here.
  3. Creating a score board for McGraw Harris Golf, which would be a lot easier if I could get all of the players to register!
  4. Leveling up my JavaScript skills, thanks to the following:
